It's already begun: law school is consuming my mind! Save me from myself!

I have so many concerns right now, and trying to sort through it all is just so frustrating. Making a decision on where to attend law school was hard enough, now I have a bunch of other things to worry about and I'm just so confused and anxious. I hope it all falls into place once things get going...

Random things I think about (thanks to the incessant blawg reading):

1. Will I be able to work out/stay fit while in school? (I barely do this now...) Major worry, since I don't want to gain a gazillion pounds... My plan is to have all sorts of healthy foods stocked in my kitchen (e.g., carrots, hummus, apples.. and NO junk!) and try to squeeze in exercise when I can (and when I'm not being lazy). Probably should work on finding a good/motivating work out buddy...

2. I'm such a nerd for admitting this, but a big question I've come across is: "Where to sit in the classroom?" Apparently, where you sit the first day ends up being your assigned seat for the rest of the semester... what happens if the people around me are loud, mean, obnoxious, annoying, smelly.. you get the idea. This is a major cause of concern! I need to pick wisely.

3. Supplements? I heard professors will preach against them, but most students praise them. I'm not too worried about going against what is recommended by the profs though, I mean, how can a supplement NOT help, right?

4. Living situation... to live alone or get a roommate? This is a hard decision, one I still haven't made. Help!

5. Studying habits- eek! I haven't been in school for a year, and although I was a successful student in college (got A's with minimal studying), I doubt law school will be the same. I'm also concerned that I'm 'out of touch' with the monotonous lifestyle that is studying. I hope I can re-acquaint myself quickly and find a study habit that works!

6. I've been warned: Try very hard to NOT date while in school- especially a fellow student. Well, seeing as I'll probably have no life and no time, this may not be a problem for me. However, these people will be my "family/friends" for three years (who I'll be around non-stop)... may be hard to avoid... dammit!

7. What if I get sick!? I am prone to getting sick a lot, unfortunately... and, I confess, I'm a big baby. So, I'm afraid if I get sick during the school year, I will fall behind on classes, assignments, and basically everything else in life and FAIL. Plan of action: need to keep fridge stocked with OJ; need to start taking vitamins and echinacea; need to eat an apple a day.

8. Am I really not gonna have a life?

9. Is it really going to be like high school...?

10. Is the Socratic Method really that bad? Why am I not very nervous about this...? Should I be concerned?

11. I know it's way too early to be thinking about this, but when do I start outlining? I'm just thinking ahead... better to be prepared than sorry!

12. I chose a school that is semi-close to home (2-hour drive, ish). How often will I go home? Will I ever have the time? Or is it going to end up being Thanksgiving by the time I get to go home for the first time?

13. Competition: will I be the competition? (Wishful thinking) Or am I going to be struggling to keep up with the others? Are all those nightmare stories for real? (hiding books in the library, ripping out pages, handing out the wrong outlines...) Please. God. No.

I'm sure this list could keep going for a while, but that's all I'll share with you for now...

Obsessed with Blawgs

With every day that passes, I get closer and closer to my first day of law school. I am excited, nervous, freaked out, scared, anxious, and any other synonym of these words. I have so much I could say about this, but I don't even know where to start. Plus, there are so many other blawgers out there, so I'm sure other people out there like me have read it all. So, I'll be using this blog space as a journal through the summer before law school and into the academic year/s (hopefully). I may write about tips and advice, stories from school, rants (surely), politics, or whatever else I feel like including fashion, music, movies, my favorite TV shows, family, friends, blah blah blah.

For now, let me confess that I am obsessed with reading other people's law blogs or "blawgs". I can't stop reading them. And the worst part is, that they all 'link' up and so there is a huge web of blawgs that are interconnected, and there is never any shortage of blawgs to read. It's driving me crazy; yet, I'm addicted to the information they provide. Some have great advice about what to expect, advice, etc- which is great. Others are full of complaining, nightmare stories, and warnings to NOT go to law school- which freak me out.

I may post later about some advice for studying for the LSAT, since that's the only thing I have actually experienced in this road to becoming a lawyer...

More to come!
